Police on Sunday evening said they were holding Nation reporter Walter Menya for allegedly soliciting a bribe to write a damaging story.
The statement said he had “been severally (sic) demanding money to kill the alleged story”.
The police did not say from whom he had been demanding the money.
He will be taken to court on Monday, the police statement signed by Spokesman George Kinoti said.

Earlier Jubilee bloggers had a field day, posting pictures of a handcuffed Mr Menya, taken inside CID Headquarters, a protected area where photography is prohibited, and inside the police vehicle.
UNCLEAR CIRCUMSTANCES
In the Sunday Nation this week, Mr Menya wrote a story about the Friends of Jubilee Foundation through which senior civil servants are illegally participating in the campaigns.
Nation Media Group, through a spokesman, said the circumstances surrounding Mr Menya’s arrest were unclear and they were waiting for further information from the police.

By the time of publishing this story, police had not released details about where they were holding him.
