State to spend Sh15bn on power connection

The government will spend Sh15 billion to rollout a countrywide electricity connection through the Last Mile Connectivity project, Energy Cabinet Secretary (CS) Charles Keter has said.

Speaking at ACK St Joseph Kipkaren Parish in Uasin Gishu County, Mr Keter said that the Jubilee government is determined to ensure nationwide power connectivity.

“The Jubilee government has no intention of locking out some parts of the country in the provision of electricity as all regions will be treated equally in the new connections to improve the lives of Kenyans,” he assured.

Mr Keter said that Uasin Gishu County has been allocated about Sh1 billion in the electricity connectivity project set to be launched next month.

The church function was also attended by Deputy President William Ruto, Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit, Turbo MP Janet Sitienei, William Chepkut (Ainabkoi) and Malulu Injendi (Malava).

Others were Sirisia MP John Waluke, Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati) Sylvanus Osoro (South Mugirango), Julius Melly (Tinderet) and Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno.

PEACE
The DP called on Kenyans to pray for the country to have sustainable peace, unity and development in the wake of challenges it was facing.

“We need to unite as Kenyans if we expect to realise sustainable peace and development and also pray for our country,” Mr Ruto said.

Archbishop Sapit said the church will continue to criticise the government whenever it goes wrong and applaud it when it does things right.
