Citizen TV anchor Kanze Dena has been appointed the Deputy State House spokesperson in far-reaching changes made in the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit.

Chief of Staff Waita Nzioka said Ms Dena’s appointment is part of the efforts to strengthen quality and reach of communication from the presidency.

“She will focus on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s brand positioning, media relations and messaging with respect to the delivery the Big Four agenda,” Mr Nzioka said.

Mr Kenyatta also approved the establishment of a presidential library, museum and exhibition centre.

The library will be headed by Ms Munira Mohamed who is also the deputy head of the PSCU.

DEVELOP LIBRARY

Ms Mohamed will lead the team that will design and develop the library, develop storylines and themes for permanent and temporary public exhibitions, carry out research and collect material.

She will work closely with the families of the first three presidents and the State Department of Heritage to decide on speeches, papers, books, artworks, artefacts and other materials to preserve and exhibit.

“The President believes the two will bring diversity and dynamism and infuse new energy to the PSCU,” Mr Nzioka said.

TEAM SCALED DOWN

The fate of the other journalists in the PSCU is not known but a source at State House told the Nation that the team had been scaled down.

Before the changes, Mr Munyori Buku was in charge of communications, Mr Dennis Itumbi headed the digital section, Mr Eric Ng’eno was in charge of messaging while Mr James Kinyua was the branding and events chief.

“No one has been sacked. Those in the PSCU will report to either of the officers based on the specific mandate,” Mr Waita said.
