Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has wished candidates sitting their examinations this year success.

“I have no doubt that you have, on your own and with the support of your teachers and parents or guardians worked very hard. Your learning experience of eight years of primary and four years of secondary education, has effectively prepared you for these examinations,” said Ms Mohamed in a statement.

She encourage the candidates to walk into their examination centres with the same confidence and enthusiasm they have showed during the years in school.

“There is something important that you must know even as you sit for these examinations. Each of you is naturally endowed with a combination of intelligence and character that makes you special and valued in the society. Examinations assess some and not all of what makes each of you unique,” added the CS.

She went on: “You all have awesome gifts. The ability to solve problems and meet the pressing needs of society in multiple ways: as great scientists, writers, artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, healers, teachers, administrators, builders of historic material and immaterial culture, lawmakers and others to name but a few.”

The CS said the many years of schooling have given the candidates a firm foundation on which to realise the special gifts they have.

“An examination is a rite of passage towards the fulfilment of your dreams whatever your dreams are,” said the CS.

She went on: “So approach the examination with this frame of mind. The scores you will get from this test will tell you something, but they will not — just like for your predecessors — tell you everything. Whatever story it will tell you, it should support and not be   an obstacle to the realization of your full potential.”

She said the government has put in place measures to ensure that all candidates access every examination paper at the same time and in a conducive environment.

“It will support you through this exam season and beyond,” added Ms Mohamed.
