Those in your position subject to most vicious attacks, Kalonzo tells Ruto

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Sunday promised what he said will be “massive political realignments” ahead of the 2022 presidential elections, saying that all options are "on the table."
He, however, cautioned politicians against preoccupying themselves with 2022 debate at the expense of serving Kenyans.
As much as the debate on 2022 politics is healthy, Kalonzo said, at the core of the discussions should be how best to improve the lives of Kenyans who elect them.
“There is enough time for political realignments as the country gears up for the 2022 General Election, however at the moment the electorate deserve better service,” said Kalonzo.
In what seemed as goodwill advice to rival William Ruto, Kalonzo warned that Deputy President’s office holders are usually fought constantly since the ‘hot seat’ is a heartbeat away from the presidency.
"I was the 10th vice president, yet we have only four presidents. The position is really a slippery business. When you hold that office, you are severely fought, pulled down, dragged all over and all other dangerous [campaigns] just to bar you from inheriting the presidency,” said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo was speaking during a fundraiser for Kolait Catholic parish in Teso North on invitation by the Wiper Busia County Coordinator Fred Papa.
He was accompanied by Busia Governor County Sospeter Ojaamong, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and a host of members of Parliament and ward representatives.
GRAFT FIGHT
On matters corruption, the Wiper boss said those ethicising the fight against the vice should be “forgiven” but urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and institutions charged with the mandate not to relent.
“The President deserves applause for the much he has achieved so far in the fight against corruption” he said.
This was his first tour of region since last year’s General Election.
Mr Wamalwa in his address was full of praise for the Wiper leader for accepting to lead in the South Sudan peace initiative.
“Our chief guest today has what it take to help get lasting solution to the conflict in the newest state. He is one of the foremost peace makers not just in our country but internationally” said Mr Wamalwa.
Mr Wamalwa warned against politicising and ethicising the war against corruption, saying this will derail the fight and roll back gains so far.
“It is refreshing and good when leaders tour the country for development which the citizenry truly need now," said Mr Ojaamong as he thanked Mr Musyoka for visiting his county.
