Several Jubilee MPs have endorsed Wiper Party’s Julius Mawathe in the upcoming Embakasi South Constituency by-election.

MPs Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Charles Njagua (Starehe), George Theuri (Embakasi West) and Simon Mbugua (East African Legislative Assembly) were on Tuesday pictured alongside Mr Mawathe.

Also in the picture are former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama and Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu.

Mr Kuria said they decided to support Mr Mawathe because their party will not be fielding a candidate in the by-election.

“Jubilee Party will not field a candidate in the forthcoming Embakasi South by-elections. As such in the spirit of the handshake and the Building Bridges Initiative, myself and like- minded leaders, in our individual capacities, have today resolved to support Musili Mawathe,” the Gatundu South MP said in a Facebook post.

Embakasi West MP uploaded photos of the same legislators captioning; “Embakasi South team Mawathe loading.”

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) had last week urged Wiper not to field a candidate in the spirit of their partnership in the dormant National Super Alliance.

Wiper responded by urging ODM to be ready for a bruising battle.

ODM candidate Irshad Sumra successfully petitioned against Mawathe’s win at the Supreme Court and the two are set to battle it again out on April 5.
