Nairobi Provincial 50 overs league format changed

The Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) has changed the format of their 50-over league for the new season that begins on June 24.

The NPCA fixtures secretary, Narendra Patel, Wednesday said that two teams, Ruaraka and Kanbis B, which topped Division One League last season, have been promoted to the Super League that will now have 12 teams.

Narendra said: “To make the league more competitive, the 12 teams will be placed into two groups, A and B, each with six teams. Group games will be played on a round-robin format."

He said that Group A has NPCA League champions, Stray Lions, Ruaraka, Nairobi Gymkhana, Sir Ali Muslim Club, Kongonis and Kanbis B while Group B contains Swamibaba. Kanbis, Cutchi Leva, Sikh Union, Obuya Academy and Ngara.

“The top three teams in each group will form the elite pool and the bottom ones will compete for the plate. Both groups will play on league basis,” said Narendra.

Narendra said that the same format will apply in all their divisions of the league.
