Real test for newcomers in KVF's fifth leg

Newcomers Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and Western Bombers will face arguably their toughest assignments so far this term at the Kenya Volleyball Federation women's league's fifth leg which serves off at the Changamwe grounds in Mombasa Friday morning.

Kenya Ports Authority, alongside General Service Unit, Prisons Kenya and Vihiga County will also be in action in the men's league.

Bombers, who are tutored by former Kenya international Dorcas Ndasaba, will confront bigwigs Kenya Prisons, managed by Ndasaba's former coach David Lung'aho who is set to parade a galaxy of stars including Elizabeth Wanyama, Mercy Moim and Everlyne Makuto in their bid to accumulate maximum points that will see them move up the table rankings.

KDF have a date against the league's defending champions Kenya Pipeline.

"Our focus is to win everything. We are seeking a fifth consecutive league title this year and to achieve that we have to win every match," said Pipeline captain Trizah Atuka.

The other women's league fixtures involve mid-table side Kenya Commercial Bank against Kahawa whilst Bomet County will face Ashton.

In the men's league, league leaders Kenya Ports Authority will confront defending champions Kenya Prisons. KPA are coming into this match on the back of some sublime form following a straight sets victory over Kericho County.

Others fixtures will involve General Service Unit against Kenya Defence Forces, and Prisons Nairobi versus Vihiga County. The top four clubs in the men and women's league at the end of the season will progress to the play-offs.
