Marita latched onto a long before volleying the ball past Sofapaka custodian Mathias Kigonya who was off his line to score his fourth goal of the campaign.

Victory for Leopards, their ninth in 22 meetings against the 2009 champions, lifted Ingwe to sixth on 28 points, three adrift of third placed Sofapaka after 17 rounds.

"I am impressed with our display, we created countless chances and the boys fought like real leopards to get that goal. It's step by step and we shall rise," Leopards coach Rodolfo Zapata said after the game.

His opposite number John Baraza was disappointed with his striking force.

"We failed to utilise our chances especially in the first half. We changed the strategy in the second half to break on the counter since Leopards were good in possession but again, it didn't work. Now we go back to the drawing board and plan for the next game," he said.
