Kenya on Saturday recovered from an embarrassing defeat in their opening game to settle for a one-all draw against Tanzania in the Cecafa Women Championship in Rwanda.

Harambee Starlets, dressed in all white attire with shades of red and green, dominated in the opening exchanges of this contest against their Southern neighbours which was played out at a half-full Stade de Kigali in the country's Capital.

But it was the Tanzanians, donning their traditional all-blue attire, who grabbed the lead on 13 minutes.

A poor clearance from Kenya's rearguard provided the gift to marauding forward Donisia Daniel, which she gladly accepted, and responded by releasing a fierce shot that easily beat Kenyan custodian Pauline Atieno.

David Ouma's team were back on level terms eight minutes later when pint-sized winger Mwanahalima 'Dogo' Adam curved a corner kick straight into the back of the net.

Tanazania's Mwanahamisi Omary, who scored twice to help Tanzania defeat Kenya in the final of the last edition of this tournament played in 2016 was, alongside Kenya's Mercy Ochieng, handed chances to score the winning goal for their respective teams. The duo however fluffed the chances.

Earlier, a vastly improved Uganda's Crested Cranes, who defeated Starlets 1-0 in both teams opening game played on Thursday, made it two wins out of two with another convincing 2-1 victory over Ethiopia's Lucy.
