Reigning Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia on Sunday made it three wins in three games as they swept aside Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

AFC Leopards, their bitter arch rivals, recorded a 2-1 triumph over Ulinzi Stars at the Thika Sub County Stadium thanks to goals from Jaffery Owiti and Marvin Omondi.

This was their very first win of the season.

The second match in Thika saw hosts Thika United surrender a 1-0 lead to succumb to a 2-1 loss to Zoo Kericho.

Sharks provided some good resistance, but fell short and were forced to yet another home defeat.

Sharks' Bolton Omwenga struck in the 22nd minute to cancel out an earlier effort from new signing Samuel Onyango, but Ivorian Ephrem Guikan restored Gor's lead in the 71st minute which proved the game's winning goal.

So many were the changes effected by Gor coach Dylan Kerr, that the only departments that stayed constant from their last league assignment was goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch and the back four of Joash Onyango, Harun Shakava, Philemon Otieno and Wellington Ochieng.

Former Ulinzi Stars midfielder Samuel Onyango scored the opener in the 11th minute, a nice low drive past John Oyiemba after collecting a cross from Ivorian Ephrem Guikan.

Gor goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch was culpable of the goal his team conceded in the 22nd minute as he mistimed Omwenga's effort and had to stand watching helpless and in disbelief as the free kick made its way into the net.

Guikan however brought back the joy for K'Ogalo fans in the 71st minute, when he raced down the right wing, before suddenly cutting in to execute an easy tap in that gave Sharks custodian John Oyiemba no chance.
