Struggling Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) on Wednesday held Western Stima to a barren draw in a SportPesa Premier League match held at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

KCB poor run to the campaign continues with their fourth draw of the season and sit second from the bottom with seven points. Stima on the other hand, have seen their storming start come a bumpy stretch and now sit fourth on the log with 16 points.

Stima coach Paul Ogai opted to introduce Martin Oduor and Johana Mwita in the starting line up in place of Kennedy Otieno and Henry Onyango.

KCB were showed intent of breaking the deadlock in 19th minute when Brian Ochieng’s header flew inches over the cross bar. At the other end, Hubert Kopany threatened the KCB keeper Omar Adisa but his strike also went wide.

Luke Ochieng’s 26th minute powerful throw in troubled the KCB rear guard but Adisa reacted quickly to clear the danger. Adisa was again called to action minutes later to save a dangerous header from Mukhisa Junior from a corner kick.

The visitors almost took the lead two minutes to the break when unmarked Kennedy Owino latched onto a long pass and dribbled into the box, before sending a low drive, which Stima's goalkeeper Samuel Odhiambo parried away for a fruitless corner.

After resumption, Stima nearly broke the deadlock when Mwita benefitted from a KCB error in the box but failed to beat Adisa in a one on one situation.

Owino was a constant threat to Stima backline and in 63rd he cleverly played in Simon Munala whose one time shot missed the target by inches with Onyango well beaten. Laban Gambareko failed to hit the target in 71st minute after another Ochieng long throw.

The hosts looked more dangerous in the last ten minutes as they created a series of chances but the Bankers were all alert and ensured they left the lakeside city with a point.

Stima tactician Ogai blamed his side draw to wasted chances, saying it calls for more work on the team's finishing. "It was a good game and we should have won. Again it was to do with wasted chances so we will keep on working on our scoring," said Ogai.

His opposite number Frank Ouna said he was satisfied with results attributing the result to good preparation. " We knew how to handle their passes and long throw-in forcing them to play wide," said Ouna.
