Visitors KCB on Monday came out 2-0 winners against Mount Kenya United in a SportPesa Premier League match that was staged at the Kenyatta stadium in Machakos.

Bolton Omwenga and Collins Wendo scored in either half to secure three points for the bankers, who have been struggling with performance since their return to the top flight in December.

Omwenga scored in the 18th minute by turning in a corner that had been floated into the box by Victor Omondi.

Omondi delivered another assist two minutes into the second half. Omwenga was felled on his way home and a free kick awarded to the bankers. Omondi took it and placed them ball just in front of goal for Wendo to slot home thereby doubling the bankers’ lead.

“The boys played according to instructions and I am sure they have also enjoyed themselves in the match. Today has been a good day for us but we have to prepare for the next match and ensure we also get results,” said KCB coach Frank Ouna.

Ouna, a former assistant coach at Gor Mahia, paraded a well experienced side that had Crispinus Oduor, Ezekiel Odera Bolton Omwenga all starting upfront.

His opposite number did the same, choosing to start with a highly offensive attacking formation that had Timona Wanyonyi, Brian Nyakan and Boniface Mukhekhe.

Utility player Moses “Dube” Odhiambo was also influential in the hosts squad and took all the team’s dead balls.
