- The ladies wind up their 2017 calendar with the 36-hole Kenya Ladies Open Amateur championship at Limuru Country Club.
- A field of 70 players including Tanzania’s Madina Idd were drawn to battle it out for the Silver and Bronze divisions titles.
- At the nine-hole Machakos Golf Club course, at least 150 players are expected to battle it out for the top prize in the annual Eastern Flour Mills tournament.
Action continues at the par 72 Ruiru Sports Club course this weekend, following last week’s Fresha golf tournament.
A field of 200 golfers were drawn to battle it out for an array of prizes in the annual Ponyea India golf tournament where at least five fully paid comprehensive medical check up and accommodation packages in India are up for grabs.
Ponyea India Medicare, courtesy of director Paul Richu, a former IT director at Nation Media Group and a member of Muthaiga, has over the years assisted many Kenyans access medical treatment in various hospitals in India.
“Coming hot on the heels of a series of recent big tournaments at the club, we are expecting a tight battle especially with the course in a relatively competitive state,” said club captain Anthony Kamau.
"The 2016 edition of Ponyea India Medicare golf attracted a record field of 220 golfers and we are expecting to beat that record this year," he said.
Those drawn for the event include the handicap 17 Anthony Mwangi, who last week beat Mwangi Kenji and Mwaura Kairu on countback with an excellent 40 points, to claim the overall title in the Fresha tournament where Joseph Ndome was breathing fire right behind the three with 39 points.
Ndome will certainly be in contention for the overall prize this time round while captain Kamau has also polished up to have a go on the overall title and so is last year’s winner Benson Kimani.
