Talented students square up as Kusa Games begin in Nairobi

University of Nairobi on Friday got off to a bright start by beating Moi University 3-1 in football as the Kenya University Sports Association games kicked off at Kenyatta University in Nairobi.

Rongo University and Kabarak University settled for a barren draw in the women’s football as Machakos University and Mount Kenya University also shared spoils in a 0-0 score.

In women’s volleyball, hard fighting Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology succumbed to a 3-1 loss to Strathmore University while Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology beat Pwani University 3-2 (25-19, 17-25, 25-20, 13-25, 15-10) in Pool A matches.

In Pool B, hosts Kenyatta University finished the day on top after beating Kisii University 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-14), while University of Nairobi piped Moi University 3-1 (19-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-22) to finish second.

Kisii University later fell to their second loss of the day to Chuka University who beat them 3-1 (22-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-20).
