Fans united in mourning football fan ‘Odu Cobra’

What you need to know:

  • The bearded James Oduor Cobra was a Gor Mahia fan per excellence.
  • He called himself the Chief Mdau (stakeholder).’I am sure 90 per cent of football fans have met Odu Cobra at one time or another.
  • He had all statistics about the club, was passionate about football, not only cheering Gor Mahia but also Harambee Stars and an overall football fan.

Until very recently, the only “Cobra” I knew on football circles was Paul Oduwo Cobra, the legendary hard-tackling Gor Mahia player.

Then I met a person with a totally different personality, the bearded Gor Mahia fan James Oduor Cobra. James was a Gor Mahia fan per excellence.

He had all statistics about the club, was passionate about football, not only cheering Gor Mahia but also Harambee Stars and an overall football fan.

He called himself the Chief Mdau (stakeholder).’I am sure 90 per cent of football fans have met Odu Cobra at one time or another. A great man, always jovial, always ready to discuss football. Sadly, on Tuesday last week we lost James Oduor Cobra, his life snuffed by the terrorists who attacked the 14 Riverside complex.

I will not talk much about Odu Cobra. Today I will share this space with all those who are deeply touched and affected by the loss of Cobra.
These are their words. James Odu cobra was among the first people on Twitter to inform the world about the terror attack at the Riverside complex while he was trapped inside the building. He, however, did not make it out alive.

A man who could see humour in every possible situation of life.
A man full of wit.
A free spirit.
