Fearsome looking Leopards getting back their spots

What you need to know:

  • The extra effort the committee put in has really paid off, and your accomplishment can’t go unnoticed.

First of all let me thank the “AFC Leopards Rescue Team” for stabilising the club’s performance.

Clearly, the best people for the job were chosen.

The onus is now on the National Executive Committee (NEC) to continue the good work and ensure the team continues to impress as has been the case in the last two months by ensuring that the welfare of our players is taken care off so as to boost their morale.

I know how much the rescue team put into their plan since they took charge when Ingwe was languishing in the relegation zone at position 17. The team had climbed up into the top 10 before last weekend matches.

Congratulations on doing such a great job on developing a plan for the team, and I believe it will go a long way in realising prosperity at the Den. It was a group effort but I can’t mention each person’s role in the project.

The extra effort the committee put in has really paid off, and your accomplishment can’t go unnoticed.

AFC Leopards’ true fans will always remember the Maurice Amahwa-led committee for the quick improvement in the league as their biggest achievement at the completion of their 60-day tenure.

Before they took charge, our players felt like orphans due to the leadership gap as explained by the playing unit.

The committee addressed the plight of the players and other immediate challenges that had seriously threatened the cohesiveness of the club.

Our former players Dan Shikanda and Peter Ouma, we know you were the right persons to be seconded to the technical bench job. Please always be there to continue giving tips to our coaches.

I also recognise and appreciate the efforts of our elder, Vincent Shimoli who managed to bring together all concerned in pursuit of the club’s greatness.

Though the period was quite short, Amahwa’s committee managed to engage stakeholders and identified some players who have since been signed by the club and have fitted well in the squad.

In the report it was also noted that members are not together due to differences occasioned by ambitions for elective positions within the club.

The rescue committee saw the need to uphold the spirit of forgiveness, togetherness and utmost respect, and humility within the club’s rank and file.

They called upon club members and fans to come out in large numbers and support the team in their remaining matches.

The coach, Andre Cassa Mbungo, who has been at the helm for slightly over two months, should be given enough time for the players to get familiar with his coaching style.

I hope the Rwandan tactician is here for the long term since sacking coaches has been Ingwe’s modus operandi.

Mbungo seems to be the right man for our beloved team, given the kind of beautiful football we are displaying at the moment, unlike suffering Gor Mahia.

I am impressed with the signing of Paul Were among others new players brought in to add punch to our squad. But we still have challenges in our striking force where two clinical finishers could be a solution that can see Ingwe ounce again become a feared club around here.
